Coach and Competitor
I started wrestling in the second grade and continued through to the collegiate level until graduating from Rider University (Lawrenceville, NJ) in May 2014. Wrestling is tough and I have been humbled by it over the years. My goal with Tristar Wrestling is to help up and coming wrestlers take some guess work out of how to prepare for competition and learn new ways to attack and score.
Originally from Newtown Square, I wrestled for Penncrest High School in Media, PA. Although a four year starter and having some success, I fell short of my ultimate goal of earning a bid to the Pennsylvania AAA State Tournament. I knew I wanted to continue wrestling and had drawn some interest but my results had made things difficult.
I wanted to continue at the highest level I could and chose to walk-on to Rider University’s team; with a goal of earning an opportunity to start for a Division 1 program. After 2 seasons of battling, I did get the chance to start during my Junior season. Ultimately a disc injury in my neck was a hurdle my last 3 years; limiting my ability to compete, I finished with a 7-5 record at Rider.
My career at Rider did not go how I wanted or expected; but I learned a ton about wrestling during my 4 years with the team. The program provided the opportunity to learn from a nationally decorated coaching staff and alumni. It also provided the platform for me to compete with state medalists, champions, D1 NCAA qualifiers and All Americans on a daily basis. I learned how to work, make adjustments, and improve. It gave me a chance to test myself and get competitive at a high level.
Since graduating from Rider in 2014, I’ve continued in the sport as an assistant coach for Ridley High School in Folsom, PA.
